And being a cynical American, he cynically conceived the notion to record a real-time daily journal about the war that presumed that a biblical era of global unity against the attacks (thickest on that day after) would eventually crumble amidst the chaos, brutality, and incompetence of all out war. Little did he realize how peculiar his journey through the evolving post-9/11 morality warp would get and how close (before the Axis of Evil Speech undid all the healing) hed come to buying and waving his first American flag since the Vietnam War.This unique book was conceived, lived, written, and edited as an invaluable historical art project about a terrible and terribly important time in world history- between September 10, 2001 and September 12, 2002. Originally scheduled for release in 2021, it is being published earlier than anticipated by academic request, because many sections of the work form an accurate record of a decisive moment for most Americans -- a time already being distorted by revisionist memory -- and many of the essays and collections of dated material have apparently already become valuable reference teaching tools. This record was kept between the week of the attacks and September 12, 2002, the day after the first anniversary of 9-11. It also contains an epilog written from Las Vegas as George W. Bushs regrettable Iraq War was launched in March, 2003. The original manuscript amassed over that one-year time period (plus epilog) turned out to be 1055 pages with 475 eligible photographs. Editing of this current Kindle Edition to about 375 book pages with 170 photographs ended on April 15, 2003. Many of the original journal entries were eliminated for lack of importance to the me or the us in the story, edited for clarity, shortened, or copy edited. No information that wasnt known at the logged time was added during editing, as the intent of the project at its inception was to release it at a time in the future when people might care to remember (Never Forget, the slogan advocated) the way it really occurred --This book is surprisingly smart and honest and refreshingly offbeat as it follows the extreme author (a powerless civilian, just like you) during that year from Amsterdam, to Paris, to Kansas, to a burning Ground Zero in New York, to Pakistan (Peshawar), over the Khyber Pass and under the air war at the Battle of Tora Bora in Afghanistan - - the good, the bad, and the ugly of an Armageddon of our security, patriotism and faith from boots on the ground on three continents at the most important battlegrounds of the aftermath of terror during their most anxious and historical of times.Another surprisingly classic and hard-hitting encounter with the world of good and evil from point-blank range by the savvy author of Molten Memoirs- Essays, Rumors, Field Notes and Photographs from the Edge of Fury: Life on the Streets Under an Exploding Volcano
